October Pack Meeting: Books & Building Community
This month's pack meeting is all about the power of books and giving back to our community!
We're combining two great causes into one meeting: a book drive and a hands-on recycled craft. Scouts will learn what it means to share knowledge and resources with others, and they'll leave with a brand-new nature notebook they made themselves from materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
Bring Books to Donate!
We're collecting gently used books to donate to the International Book Project, a local Lexington nonprofit that works to increase literacy and open doors to opportunity by getting books into the hands of people who need them, both locally and around the world. Bring any books your Scout has outgrown or is ready to pass along!
Bring Recycled Materials to Build Your Own Nature Notebook
Scouts will also craft their very own notebook from recycled materials — packing paper, newspaper, and similar scraps — using a simple hand-binding technique. It's a great intro to reusing what you already have at home, and Scouts will get to keep their notebook to use on future nature hikes and adventures.
